About

Charles Pasi unveils his sixth album, *Adamas*, his third on Blue Note, with whom he signed in 2015. Adamasmeans “indomitable” in Greek and refers to the diamond, a gemstone that Charles—a gemmology enthusiast with two degrees in the field—knows well. This album is dedicated to two influential figures in his life: his father and his manager Maurice Suissa, both of whom have passed away.

Conceived during the pandemic, this multi-track album explores themes of loss, love, and resilience. Charles sings in English, French, and Italian, blending blues, pop, and folk influences. The first single,“Garbage Dog, is a collaboration with Queen Omega, a Rastafarian singer from Trinidad and Tobago. In“Nino, Cielo e Terra, he pays tribute to his father in his first song in Italian, marked by raw emotion.

The album also addresses the challenges of being close to someone struggling with addiction in“Addict”and the power of survival in“The Eyes of Cecilia, inspired by a friend who was seriously injured in an accident. Charles also explores instrumental tracks with songs like“Marmelade Blues”and“Mikado, letting the music speak for itself.

Featuring some thirty musicians, including saxophonist Baptiste Herbin and sound engineer Michael Brauer,*Adamas*is an album of remembrance and renewal. In it, Charles Pasi reveals a touching sincerity, suspended between heaven and earth, where music transcends pain to honor life.
