Haylen is a unique artist with a captivating voice and a magnetic personality who seamlessly blends soul, rock, and blues. A true force of nature, she embodies a unique energy, style, and passion, and her journey is a testament to her deep commitment to music.
As a teenager, Haylen turned her back on school to dive headfirst into the world of music. It was in Paris, at Place des Innocents, that she learned to play the guitar with friends, drawing inspiration from bands like Nirvana, Incubus, and System of a Down. This all-consuming passion for music led her to the metro, squats, and underground venues, where she forged her reputation as a rhythm guitarist and established herself as a singer with a soft, deep tone—a voice that is both smooth and powerful.
It was during a jam session that she met Simon Truxillo and Andrew Mazingue, two key figures who helped her record her first tracks. Then it was punk diva Amy Winehouse’s turn to light her path, introducing her to the world of soul, jazz, and vintage music from the ’50s and ’60s. Artists like Etta James, Aretha Franklin, Wanda Jackson, Sam Cooke and Elvis Presley became her essential inspirations.
Building on her experience, Haylen embarked on a tour across London and France, performing nearly 300 shows, including appearances at prestigious festivals such as “Les Femmes s’en mêlent” at La Machine du Moulin Rouge in 2013 and the “Scènes Flottantes” Festival, where she performed in front of nearly 30,000 people in 2018. She then became the live ambassador for the Jack Daniel’s brand, touring France to showcase her voice and energy on stage.
Her memorable appearance on *The Voice* in 2016 marked a turning point in her career. All four coaches turned around immediately when she took the microphone. Haylen won over a new audience and made a name for herself on television, performing in front of 8 million viewers during the live shows.
After leaving the show, she landed the lead role in the rock opera *Le Rouge et le Noir*, co-written by Zazie and produced by Albert Cohen. For four months, she performed her role on the legendary stage of the Palace, combining her talents as a singer and actress. This adventure took her all the way to China in 2019 for a tour of 52 performances across the most beautiful theaters.
In 2018, Haylen independently released her EP “Out of Line,” a critically acclaimed blend of trip-hop and blues. The EP opened new doors for her and led her to perform at prestigious venues such as the American Tours Festival and the Vintage Legend Festival. She shared the stage with renowned artists such as Nico Duportal, Ray Collins’ Hot-Club, Sugar Ray Ford, Aisha Khan, Deke Dickerson, and Gizzelle. She was also invited by Matthieu Chedid to join Keziah Jones in a trio at Villa Schweppes during the 2016 Cannes Film Festival.
Her career took off when she joined Jean-Paul Gaultier’s “Fashion Freak Show” troupe for a world tour, before becoming a lead dancer at the famous Crazy Horse cabaret.
Haylen is also the first French ambassador for the famous American speaker brand Klipsch and is supported by Gibson Guitar. In 2022 and 2023, she embarked on two tours across France, opening for the Dire Straits Experience (Gérard Drouot Production), for a series of concerts at the Zénith venues across France.
Her debut album, “Blue Wine,” released in February 2023, features 13 tracks, including two in French and one written by Darrel Highman (composer of Imelda May’s hits). Drawing inspiration from the sounds of the ’50s, ’60s, and occasionally the ’70s, she recorded these songs using vintage microphones to capture a retro vibe that closely mirrors her musical influences. It is a spellbinding journey through time, blending her blues, soul, and rock & roll influences. The lyrics are directly inspired by her life and experiences, exploring themes of love, society, and a thirst for freedom. Haylen’s precise, powerful, and soulful voice is further enhanced by string and brass arrangements that are both explosive and delicate.
In 2023, she won first prize at the Cahors Blues Festival.
Whether on stage or in the studio, Haylen embodies a passionate and resolutely authentic artist. Her vocal talent, her mastery of the guitar, and her natural charisma make her a key figure in the contemporary music scene, capable of transporting her audience into a world where every song is a journey and every performance an unforgettable experience.
